Toxicology & CulturesReport

How it Works?

Private Autopsy Associates Services provides feedback to families and physicians about the cause associated with a relative’s death through our expert private autopsy services. To perform an autopsy, we require signed authorization from the individual who has the legal right to request an autopsy (usually next of kin).

Before the autopsy, the Pathologist will need to know about any additional restrictions or organ interests. We will collect a blood sample if you wish to have it sent for toxicology (an exam on blood for therapeutic or abused drugs); the additional cost would be $800. This toxicology testing is a critical part of our toxicology and culture report, which can provide vital insights in many cases.

If you do not elect for toxicology at this time and we can obtain a blood sample (not embalmed), you can choose to have this test done at a later date (up to one year). After you discuss the case with a staff member, the autopsy can usually be scheduled within 24 to 48 hours.

See our FAQ for Autopsy Services in Tampa to learn more about the process, required documentation, and turnaround times.

Why Choose Private Autopsy Associates?

We realize that considering and ordering an autopsy is a decision taken under unexpected or distressing circumstances. The state of mind of the nearest kin, relatives, and friends is usually in a state of confusion, disbelief, and frustration. That’s why our team offers compassionate, timely, and professional private autopsy services, providing clear answers when families need them most.

On the other hand, television has helped in recent years to present the autopsy as a scientific tool for discovering and explaining the mechanisms and causes of death. The role of toxicology testing, microscopic examination, and tissue and fluid cultures—integral to our comprehensive toxicology and cultures report —has become a familiar procedure to the layman. Television has disseminated knowledge and introduced intellectual interest in an otherwise misunderstood medical procedure.

Through our experience conducting medical autopsy services, we help families and legal professionals gain clarity, support closure, and contribute to vital healthcare and legal processes.

Our medical autopsy services are handled with utmost care, and a final report is generally completed within 3 to 4 months, depending on the complexity of each case.
